When we saw the CES 2016 event in January, the Japanese electronics giant, Sony, announced three lines of Android TV powered 4K HDR Ultra HD televisions consisting of the XBR-X850D, XBR-X930D, and XBR-X940D. The three of them captured the public’s attention because they received technological improvements in various sectors.
Powered by Sony’s proprietary 4K Processor X1 engine, this television provides a 4K and HDR viewing experience that is close to 4K HDR Ultra HD. The X1’s powerful 4K processor delivers stunning images to whatever you’re watching. Each source is intelligently analyzed and upgraded to the best 4K resolution, from live TV, Blu-ray Discs and DVDs, to 4K Internet video. Enjoy stunning 4K images with stunning clarity, true-to-life colors and sharp contrast.
The processor also delivers ultra-real detail, using algorithms such as Noise Crusher, Flat Area Detection, and Super Resolution. This keeps the natural look and perfect content, whether original or enhanced.

Not only that, the lighting levels and dramatic blacks bring images that are much deeper. While the Slim Backlight Drive feature found in the X930D series provides a perfect contrast to the presence of X-tended Dynamic Range PRO, while the Triluminos screen that is Sony’s trademark continues to enrich the final color of the image production. The Precision Detail Enhancer analyzes each scene and pixel so that tones and colors are applied perfectly for rich, natural colors.
For audio technology, Sony offers S-Force Front Surround PRO which is able to process audio signals to create an immersive listening experience. Live multi-channel processing ensures truly clear and powerful 360-degree surround sound. While Clear Phase can adjust the frequency response speaker TV for smoother, balanced sound reproduction for all low, medium, and high frequencies.
Looking at the design sector, the X930D and X940D series surprise some because they are ultra thin, allowing them to be attached to walls with very small gaps. The Android TV operating system from Google is also an added value because it makes it a smart television that is sensitive to the development of the Internet of Things.
Through Android TV, users can easily watch various cable TV programs, stream videos, download various entertainment content, or use it as a device to play games. Android TV itself is a place to watch a variety of movies provided by Google Play, Amazon Video, YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, PBS and PBS KIDS. Furthermore, voice command control in the form of Voice Search has gained support for receiving commands from longer sentences.
The Sony X850D and X930D/X940D series will also support ULTRA, an app from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment set to launch this year in the United States. With ULTRA, customers can buy and stream 4K HDR movies directly from their Sony 4K HDR Ultra HD tv.
