Sony Stops Production of PS Vita?

When Sony was successful with their PlayStation 4 game console, it was different with the PlayStation Vita. Glancing at Sony’s financial statements for 2016, the device that is struggling very hard to achieve this sale will not be included in the list of sales predictions for this vendor from Japan.

The news says Sony even wants to stop the production of the Vita along with its shipments to a number of regions. As reported by NDTV, Sony informed sellers in the Netherlands that this handheld device is facing the end of its life.

One of the biggest sellers in the Land of Windmills, Bol.com only provides two units left. Speaking on the Dutch website, Tweakers, Bol said that the PS Vita was dying.

This indicates that all forms of support for this console will be discontinued. Until this news came down, Sony Benelux declined to comment. On the other hand, PS Vita production for other regions is shrinking. In India, the last Vita shipment took place almost a year ago.

“They bought about 1500 units and there are no more,” said a spokesman for one game store as quoted by Gadgets 360. “It may not be the end of this device’s life, but its sales are also very unsatisfactory.”

Sony itself has officially stopped making games for the PS Vita and is more focused on making device adaptations for third-party games such as Minecraft which is fairly successful.

Although at E3 2015 Sony didn’t mention too much about the PlayStation Vita, PlayStation Europe boss Jim Ryan said that sales of this device were “quite a relief” and Sony would not abandon it.

Even so, sales of PS Vita along with PlayStation TV, and other PlayStation Portables in 2015 decreased by 3.3 million units compared to the same period the previous year.
